Your Hyundai Santa Fe has an electric engine cooling fan. By following these steps, even a novice should be able to replace a Hyundai Santa Fe engine cooling fan within an hour, using only a wrench and screwdriver.

Instructions

    1

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable from your Hyundai Santa Fe. Also disconnect the fan motor's electrical connector and disconnect its wiring harness from the fan shroud or housing. If you have an automatic transmission, you will also need to remove the oil cooler hose from the shroud.

    2

Loosen and remove the four bolts holding the fan shroud in place, then remove both the shroud and the fan motor from the engine compartment.

    3

Remove the fan mounting clip and take the fan blade off the fan motor.

    4

Unscrew the three screws holding the fan motor in place and remove it. Replace with a new motor and screw it firmly back in place on the fan shroud.

    5

Reattach the fan blade to the motor and secure it with the fan mounting clip.

    6

Return the fan shroud and motor assembly to the engine compartment and bolt it back into place. If you had to remove the oil cooler hose, reconnect it to the fan shroud now.

    7

Plug your fan's electrical connector back into place and reattach the wiring harness to the fan shroud, then reconnect your battery's negative cable.
