The 1994 Chevy Astro may have one of two types of armrests. One of the armrests has a small storage compartment in it; they other does not. The process of removing these armrests is quite different, but removing either is a simple procedure with a basic tool. Removing the armrest is necessary if you want to replace it, or if you want to remove the Astro's door panel.

Instructions

Storage Compartment Armrest

    1

Inspect the armrest. Look inside the small storage compartment and find the Phillips screw.

    2

Remove the screw with a Phillips screwdriver. Set it to the side for safekeeping.

    3

Grasp the top edge of the arm rest. Slide it firmly toward the rear of the door panel to remove it from the Astro's door.

Flat Armrest

    4

Inspect the side of the armrest. Locate the small seam where the armrest connects to the door panel.

    5

Insert your trim pry tool into the seam on either side of the armrest. Push the handle of the tool down to pry the armrest up. The side you are on should pop up fairly easily.

    6

Move to the other side of the armrest. Insert the trim pry tool into the seam and push the handle downward to pop up the other side of the armrest.

    7

Lift the armrest up to remove it from the Astro's door panel.
