The 2001 Silverado's extended cab door panels are a bit easier to remove than the front door panels, because the panel has fewer components (it's much smaller) and no electrical connections or lock rods to unhook. The Chevrolet Silverado was redesigned in 1999; this body style continued until 2007, so the procedure for removing the extended cab door panels is the same on all 1999 to 2006 Silverado models.

Instructions

    1

Open the front door, and then open the extended cab door fully to allow easier access to it.

    2

Pry off the top portion of the interior door handle surround panel. Insert the trim tool to pry it off. Grasp the exposed top; pull up firmly to release the panel's lower clips and raise the panel above the door handle.

    3

Remove the bolt from inside door panel cup holder with a 7mm socket, and then remove the bolt from the door panel storage compartment (same size).

    4

Insert the door panel tool into the top portion of the extended cab door panel. Push the tool forward to release the internal clips from the door shell. Work your way around the door panel with the tool; continue to push out the internal clips.

    5

Grasp the panel and pull it straight away from the door shell.
