Rebuilding a 1974 Honda 350 is a time consuming task, but it is worth the effort to hear an engine come to life, one that has been sitting in the bushes or backyard for several years.

Instructions

How to Rebuild a 1974 Honda 350 Motorcycle

    1

Strip off gas tank using a socket wrench by removing the bolts at the front and back. Inspect this for holes, rust and dents, then seal these, sand and repaint.

    2

Remove both the front and rear tires, setting the bike forks, ender carriage and rear forks on large slabs of wood. You should buy new tires because these may be rotted and will definitely be unsafe. Also, inspect the spokes for damage and rust, if there is a lot of rust, replace the wheels too.

    3

Remove the wire harness and check all connections for dust, grease and broken wires. Replace as necessary.

    4

Sand down the frame with sanding disks, then repaint the frame with black spray paint.

    5

Remove the carburetors, are have them reconditioned at a mechanic shop. Inspect the fuel shut off valve, fuel lines, mirrors and handle grips and replace if necessary.

    6

Rewire the frame, and install a fresh battery. Then test the blinkers, headlights and horn.

    7

Test the brakes and clean and refill the brake fluid, brake lines and grease the brake lever. Tighten the brake lever line if necessary.

    8

Reattach the new gas tank, sealed and ready to hold gas, and then reconnect the reconditioned parts.
