How to Remove Bumper Scratches

Cars tend to pick up scratches on their bumpers during the normal course of driving. Small stones and sticks may fly up, causing small scratches. Removing scratches from the bumper is a simple process that can be completed with a small tube of touch-up paint that matches the color of your bumper.

Instructions

    1

Clean the area around the scratch using dish soap and rag. Remove any dirt around that area as this could cause bumps in the scratch once it is repaired.

    2

Apply touch up paint using a fine-tipped paint brush. Gently apply only enough paint to fill in the scratch. It is very important to use a matching color so the scratch is unnoticeable once repaired.

    3

Remove excess paint using a paper towel. Avoid leaving too much paint on the scratch as this can cause an unattractive build-up. Allow the paint to dry completely.

    4

Apply buffing compound to the touched up surface and buff out the scratch. Buff the surface until a nice consistent appearance is evident throughout the entire bumper.
