Fog lights, designed to aid vision while driving in foggy or hard-to-see conditions, are optional components of the Jeep Liberty. Because these lights are not used as frequently as the Liberty's headlights, they should burn out less frequently. Replacing the fog lights is mostly a matter of having the correct bulb type and knowing their locations, which are near the wheel wells on a 2003 Liberty. One you know that, changing the bulb is very similar to changing any of the other lights.

Instructions

    1

Turn the steering wheel so the Liberty's front wheels turn toward the fog light you are changing; turn the wheel to the right if you are changing the right fog light bulb. This will clear space for you to reach the bulb.

    2

Remove the cover for the fog lights in the rear; these covers are located in the wheel housings.

    3

Turn the fog light's bulb socket counterclockwise and pull it out to remove it from the fog light. Pull the bulb out of the socket.

    4

Push the replacement light bulb into the socket. Insert the socket back into the fog light from within the wheel housing and turn it clockwise to lock it in place. Install the cover for the fog light's rear end.

    5

Turn the Liberty's wheels in the other direction and repeat the above steps for the other fog light if needed.
