The 2002 to 2005 Ford Explorers' seats are known for having a problem with movement during acceleration and deceleration. This movement can be distracting and even dangerous when on the road. Read the following tips on how to perform this repair without even having to remove the power seats.

Instructions

    1

Order the Seat Service Clip, Part Number 3L2Z-78618D46-AA.

    2

Position the seat so that you can freely access all four bolts.

    3

Depower the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). This has to be done before doing the repair.

    4

Unscrew the four covers of the seat track bolts so that you have access to the bolts. Remove the bolts.

    5

Disconnect the electrical connectors of the seats. Pick up the seat until you can see the bottom of the seat track.

    6

Install a seat track clip on the track assembly's right side and make sure that the tabs are positioned to the seat's front. Install another seat track clip on the track assembly's left side so that the tabs are positioned towards the seat.

    7

Replace the seat into its original position. When you're done, reinstall the electrical connectors. Screw the four seat track bolt covers back onto the bolts. Turn the SRS back on.
