Replacing the power mirror may appear simple for a Honda Prelude. However, taking the door panel off to access electrical cords is a big do-it-yourself project for a vehicle owner. Find a trim tool at your local auto parts store before you start. You must remove the door panel on all model years of the Prelude.

Instructions

Remove Old Mirror

    1

Disconnect the car's battery before starting to avoid injury.

    2

Lower the window completely, and pry the mirror mount cover off by hand.

    3

Take the inner handle off by first prying the cap out and then taking the screw out. Pull the handle forward and out half way. Disconnect the handle rod and power door lock connector.

    4

Remove the screw, and release the clips with a trim pad remover. You can purchase a trim pad remover at an automotive repair store.

    5

Disconnect the window switch, the mirror switch, security indicator and courtesy light bulb socket to get the door panel completely off of the car.

    6

Take the connector and clip off the interior mirror assembly; then remove the nuts.

    7

Push the clips out to remove the mirror.

    8

Put the new mirror in place, connect the wiring and attach the screws and clips.

    9
