First introduced in 1998, the Lincoln Navigator is a full-size luxury SUV produced by the Ford Motor Company, and had the undesirable distinction of being named among the SUVs with the lowest gas mileage in 2008. These steps apply to all model years of the Lincoln Navigator.

Instructions

    1

Add windshield washer fluid to the washer fluid reservoir only if levels are low. In cold weather, you shouldn't fill the reservoir completely. Use only a washer fluid that meets Ford specification WSB-M8-B16-A2. If your vehicle is going to be operated in temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, make certain that your washer fluid has antifreeze protection.

    2

Use Motorcraft engine oil or an equivalent that meets Ford specification WSS-M2C153-H. Engine oil with SAE 5W-20 viscosity provides optimal fuel economy and engine protection.

    3

Refill the electrolyte levels of each battery cell to the "level indicator" with distilled or soft--demineralized--water only as necessary due to harsh operating conditions or extremely high temperatures. This sort of maintenance isn't necessary under typical operating conditions.

    4

Mix a 50-50 solution of clean, drinkable water--preferably distilled--to Motorcraft Specialty Gold Engine Coolant VC-7-A or VC-7-B in Oregon. This coolant is yellow in color and meets Ford Specification WSS-M97B51-A1.

    5

Maintain your power steering fluid levels with Ford Premium Power Steering Fluid or MERCON automatic transmission fluid. Motorcraft MERCON ATF can also be used in your transfer case and transmission.

    6

Keep proper levels of hydraulic brake fluid by adding Motorcraft High Performance DOT-3 motor vehicle brake fluid when necessary.
