The Cadillac Escalade's ABS Relay controls the automatic brake system. The ABS Relay is part of the Cadillac Escalade's control module and all elements must be handled with care during installation. Installing a new ABS Relay in the Escalade requires some special precautions to avoid damaging the Cadillac's electrical system.

Instructions

    1

Disconnect the negative cable on the battery before cleaning the Electro-Hydraulic Control Unit (EHCU).

    2

Disconnect the Electronic Brake Control Module's (EBCM) electrical connectors.

    3

Take off the Control Unit's three mounting bracket bolts and carefully move the unit down slightly in order to remove the four mounting screws.

    4

Take the Control Module off the Brake Pressure Module Valve. This may take a little additional pressure to pull the module off the valve once it is unfastened.

    5

Clean the bracket and the area around it before reinstalling a new EBCM ABS relay using four new mounting screws.

    6

Reinstall the three EHCU bracket mounting bolts and tighten the EHCU bracket bolts to manufacturer's specifications before reconnecting the EBCM's electrical connectors.

    7

Reattach the negative battery cable and check the tire calibration.
