Rust is never a good thing for a car to have, and when it happens, it has to be dealt with as soon as possible. Flash rust happens when water is left on the surface of bare metal for too long and it starts to rust within hours. Cleaning flash rust is the same as cleaning any rust and can be dealt with easily.

Instructions

    1

Rub the red scuff pad onto the rusted surface. This should clean off most of the rust right away, but if not, proceed to Step 2.

    2

Insert the wire brush into the drill and secure it using the drill chuck.

    3

Run the drill so the wire brush goes over the rusted area. This will remove the rest of the rust from the surface and get it ready for protection.

    4

Wipe off the surface using a shop rag, and coat the surface with the spray paint. When you next need to weld to the steel or work with it, you can strip the paint easily using the wire brush.
