The window switch in your 2001 Chrysler Town & Country allows you to operate the electric windows by rolling them up or down. The master switch on the driver side also allows you to lock the window operation, which prevents other passengers from lowering or raising their windows. If your window switch goes bad, you'll need to replace it to restore the electric-window operation. Because the Chrysler Town & Country shares its components with the Dodge Grand Caravan, the process is the same in both vans.

Instructions

    1

Detach the negative-battery cable from the battery to prevent shock. Turn the nut on the cable with a wrench or pliers. Lift the cable from the battery post.

    2

Insert the tip of a flat-head screwdriver underneath the rear part of the window switch. Pull up gently to release the back half of the switch. Grasp the window switch with your hand and lift it from the door panel. It is not attached by screws, bolts or clips.

    3

Turn the window switch upside down to view the connection. You'll see a green connector with a bundle of wires on the bottom. The connector has a small red switch. Push the left part of the switch over to the right, using the flat-head screwdriver. This unlocks the connection.

    4

Pull the connection straight down to detach it from the window switch. If you want to install a new window switch, simply attach the connection to the new switch and insert the new switch into the door panel cavity.
