The side mirrors on a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado are large and bulky, which makes towing and pulling objects easier; however, it also makes them easy to hit accidentally, and knock them off the door. Depending on which mirror is broken, most states require you to have functioning mirrors, so replacing them becomes a necessity. More importantly, it helps with visibility and keeps you safer as a driver.

Instructions

    1

Open up the door for the mirror you want to replace. Locate the triangular plastic panel in the upper corner of the door panel by the seam between the windshield and the door jam. Pull the panel off the door using both hands.

    2

Unplug the wiring to the mirror if your truck is equipped with power mirrors. Roll down the windows. Hold the mirror in one hand and unbolt the mirror from the door using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the mirror away from the door.

    3

Hold the replacement mirror in one hand and mount it into the door. Bolt the mirror to the door using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. If you have power mirrors, plug in the wiring harness to the mirror. Push the plastic trim panel you removed in step 1 back onto the door.
