How to Replace a Horn in a Honda Accord

The Honda Accord has appeared in eight major versions since its debut in 1978, evolving from a compact hatchback to a mid-size car. The eighth generation is almost a full-size car and began production in 2008. The Original Equipment Manufacturer horn is an item that enthusiasts frequently replace with a much louder aftermarket horn.

Locate the horns. Models of the Accord made after 1983 usually have two horns behind the front bumper cover below the headlights and above the turn signal. There should be a horn on each side, one low tone and one high tone. Accord models made prior to 1983 generally have only one horn, which is usually behind the bumper on the driver's side.

Unplug the power connectors and remove both of the mounting bolts with a socket wrench. Each horn is held on with a single bolt.

Take out the original horns and mount the new horns using the bolts and washers in the kit and the original mounting holes if possible. Ensure you have one low tone and one high tone horn if your kit is not a direct factory replacement.

Plug in the power connectors to each new horn if you are installing factory replacements. If the original harness is not compatible with the new horns, you will need to use your wire crimper/stripper to connect the new harness to the car's wiring.

Test the new horns. They should be able to easily determine if they are both working. However, if you need to, you can always test each horn separately by plugging one in at a time.
