Determine which fuel pump your Nissan Pathfinder will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size. Models built from 1991 to 1995 came with a 2.5 L K, 3.0 L Mitsubishi 6G72, 3.3L EGA or 3.8 L EGH engine. Models made after 1995 may have a 2.4 L EDZ, 3.0 L Mitsubishi 6G72, 3.3 L EGA or 3.8 L EGH engine.
2Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Remove the fuel filler hose from the fuel tank. Disconnect the evaporative emissions hose and vent pipe from the fuel pump assembly. Remove the fuel tank shield and the drive shaft.
3Support the fuel tank with a hydraulic jack and take off the bolts on the fuel tank strap with a socket wrench so that you can lower the tank. Unplug the fuel pump's electrical connection and fuel supply hose.
4Remove the lock ring on the fuel pump with tool J-45722 and take out the fuel pump. Install the new fuel pump using the items included in the kit.
5Complete the installation by reversing the removal procedure.
6Check for leaks by turning the ignition on without starting the engine.
