If the windshield on your recent model Nissan Altima isn't getting any washer fluid, yet the reservoir isn't empty, you can replace the tubing and or tubing/valve assembly yourself. The tubing supplies fluid from your washer reservoir tank up to the windshield. These instructions are for a Nissan Altima model year 1996 or later.

Instructions

    1

Purchase tubing or tubing/valve assemblies made specifically for the Nissan Altima. An auto parts store or the Nissan dealership will have the tubing you need.

    2

Locate the Altima's windshield washer reservoir tank. It's on the passenger's side front, behind the coolant tank. You may need to remove the front quarter panel and tire to get to the washer tank and tubing.

    3

Unhook the tubing at the windshield side first and drain the remaining fluid into a separate container.

    4

Disconnect the tubing from the bottom end of the reservoir. If you didn't remove the tire and front quarter panel, you'll need to be underneath the Altima to reach this connection.

    5

Flush the reservoir with clean water if you notice the reservoir is dirty.

    6

Connect the new tubing to the washer reservoir, then the windshield outlets.

    7

Pour fresh washer fluid into the reservoir and test the wipers. It might take a few minutes to prime the new tubing before you see washer fluid spraying onto the windshield.
