The doors on a Dodge Durango are heavy, but they're easy to remove and replace with just a few tools and a little time. If you are replacing the door, new doors are available from the dealer; and if money's an issue, you can look for used doors from a salvage yard. However, be aware that while a used door may save you money, make sure it is in good shape, or it may not be such a bargain.

Instructions

    1

Open the door of your Durango and locate the rubber boot that runs from the door to the truck's door frame. Pull the boot back to expose the wiring connector inside it. Press the locking tab on the wiring harness connector then separate the two halves.

    2

Position a jack under the bottom of the door with a block of wood between the jack and the door. Raise the jack to support the door but do not apply upward pressure on it or you will damage the door.

    3

Etch a line around the hinges with a scratch-all or other sharp tool to make realignment easier. Remove the two nuts, one from the top hinge and one from the bottom, with a wrench. Set them aside then remove the two bolts, one from each hinge, with the wrench.

    4

Pull the door away from the body, supporting it with the jack, then set it aside. If you are replacing the door, you may need parts off this door so do not discard it.
