Your Dodge Caravan's headlights play an essential role in providing visibility and keeping you and your family safe while driving down the road. When one burns out, there's no need to spend money on a costly replacement at the dealership. Replacing the bulb is something you can easily do yourself. Please note these instructions apply only to fourth generation Dodge Caravans produced after 2001.

Instructions

    1

Set the parking brake on your Dodge Caravan and remove the keys from the ignition before attempting any repairs. Be sure to switch the headlights off.

    2

Open the hood by pulling the interior hood release lever located underneath the instrument panel on the left side of the van. Walk around to the front of the van and push the safety catch to the left, located in the front center of the hood. Raise the hood and secure it with the prop rod.

    3

Unscrew the three screws that secure the headlight assembly to your Dodge Caravan. Put the screws in your pocket or another safe place, so you won't lose them before reinstalling the headlight assembly.

    4

Pull the headlight assembly away from the front of the vehicle. Turn the bulb retaining ring counterclockwise to unlock the electrical connector. Remove the electrical connector from the bulb assembly by pulling it straight out.

    5

Replace the old bulb with a new 9007 halogen headlight bulb. Connect the electrical connector and turn the bulb retaining ring clockwise to lock the bulb into place.

    6

Reinstall the headlight assembly and secure the screws tightly before closing the hood. Turn on your Dodge Caravan, flip on the headlights and verify they're working properly.
