The main components of the Chevy Trailblazer's front bumper include a plastic bumper cover (fascia) panel covering a metal impact bar mounted on the actual bumper itself. Dismantling a bumper on a 2006 model means removing each of these parts from the vehicle body one by one. If you are removing the bumper due to it being hit and damaged, you may need to adjust these steps on the fly to accommodate for the damage.
Instructions
- 1
Open the hood. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the fog lights and corner lights if the vehicle is equipped with them.
2Remove the radiator grille--unscrew and remove the radiator panel with a wrench, use a flat-head screwdriver to release the clips securing the panel to the headlights, and lift off the panel.
3Remove the fasteners connecting the plastic panel to the headlights; use a wrench on the bolts and pliers for the push pins. There are fasteners on both the upper and lower sides of the panel. Remove the push pins connecting the panel to its support rods.
4Disengage the clips that are on each end of the bumper and then pull the panel off the vehicle.
5Unbolt the panel's support rods from the metal impact bar using your wrench.
- 6
Disconnect the bolts for the impact bar with the wrench while an assistant supports the bar.
7Detach the bumper from the vehicle, disconnecting any electrical connectors that are in the way.
