The doors on a 1994 Buick Park Avenue have several components within them that make up the handles, windows and other parts. These parts are not interchangeable with other brands. If you are assembling a door for this car, you must make sure all of the components will work for this year and model. If you need replacement parts, consult a dealer or an auto supply store for the exact model.

Instructions

    1

Raise the door into position so its bolt holes line up with the ones on the hinges. While another person holds the door in position, insert the bolts that connect the door to the hinges. Tighten the bolts with a wrench.

    2

Thread all of the necessary wires and electrical connectors within the car body into the access hole in the door.

    3

Insert the outer door handle into the door and apply its mounting nuts with a small wrench. Insert the lock cylinder into its mounting hole and secure it with its retaining clip.

    4

Insert the door latch and lock assembly so the latch and bolt holes line up with the holes in the door's outer edge. Secure the latch with the three retaining bolts and a Torx wrench.

    5

Place the inner handle on the door; its mounting location is just below the window opening on the right side. Attach it to the door using a rivet tool and four 3/16-inch rivets.

    6

Using the appropriate clips, connect the actuating rods to the door handles, latch and latch/lock cylinder.

    7

Insert the window regulator inside the door. Position the regulator at its bolt holes at both ends of the door, and then insert its bolts with your wrench. If the car has power windows, connect the electrical connector to the regulator motor.

    8

Slide the window glass into the door so it engages the window regulator. Engage the glass' rear guide clip with the weatherstrip on the rear run channel. Slide the front run channel onto the glass and bolt it into place.

    9

Press the plastic water shield onto the door with the provided adhesive.

    10

Mount the door's inner trim panel so it engages with the door's upper edge. Connect the trim panel clips along the outer edge, and then insert the mounting screws inside the armrest with a screwdriver.

    11

Connect all trim panels and handles to the door using their appropriate clips and, if needed, electrical connectors. This can include the reflectors on the rear end, the door/window control switch panel and the manual window crank.
