The Mazda 626's complex power mirror construction makes it a do-it-yourself replacement for a owner with experience. The project only requires a few basic tools for all model years.

Instructions

Remove Old Mirror

    1

Raise the door glass with the rear edge at approximately 3 1/2 inches higher than the completely lowered position. Take the regulator handle off if window is manually operated.

    2

Take the screws out, and remove the fasteners that holds the Mazda's door trim panel. Use your hands or a cloth-covered screwdriver to remove the trim.

    3

Pull the door trim up to dislodge the hooks holding it in place.

    4

Disconnect the power window connector, small light and trunk lid-opener switch connectors.

    5

Peel the corner of the screen back near the interior mirror assembly.

    6

Unplug the mirror connector. Remove the nuts to free the old mirror from your Mazda 626.

Install New Mirror

    7

Put the new mirror in place. Attach the nuts to secure it. Restore the power connection.

    8

Put the screen cover on the 626 back in place.

    9

Install the interior door trim panel in the reverse order.

    10

Connect the negative battery cable. Check you power mirror to make sure it functions.
