While removing a door panel can be a relatively simple task, removing the door properly without damaging smaller components or snapping off pieces can be more challenging. The interior door panel removal must occur in the proper order to minimize damage. Once repairs are completed, whether for power windows, power door locks or speakers, the door panel should be replaced in the reverse order of its removal.
Instructions
- 1
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2Use a plastic trim tool to pry off the small screw cover next to the door handle and remove the screw beneath it using a screwdriver. Slide the door handle forward and out. Disengage the two rods, starting with the upper one first. Set the plastic clips aside. Disconnect the power window wiring.
3Pry off the interior panel near the side mirror using the plastic trim tool. Disconnect the speaker wiring and set the trim panel aside. Use the screwdriver to remove the screw at the top of the door panel beneath the mirror panel that was just removed.
4Pry the cover off of the door pull handle using the plastic trim tool and remove the two handle screws with the screwdriver. Remove the screws at the bottom edge of the door panel near the speaker. Remove the retaining clips at the back edge of the door panel near the door latch by popping the center button up on the fastener.
5Lift the door panel up until the clips disengage and the door panel can be removed away from the door.
