If you own a 2002 through 2005 model Cadillac Escalade and it is coming to a screeching halt or pulling to one side when you apply the brakes then you have a problem that needs to be fixed as soon as possible. You will need to replace the front disc brakes in your Cadillac Escalade.

Instructions

    1

Park the Cadillac Escalade on a flat surface. Place the parking brake on. Using a syringe, turkey baster or similar tool, siphon the fluid out of the master cylinder reservoir. Drain two thirds of the fluid out of the cylinder. If the level is less than half way full no fluid needs to be drained. Place wood wedges or similar tools behind the wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.

    2

Remove the wheels. Compress the caliper into the caliper piston until the caliper piston bottoms the bore using a C-clamp or similar tool. Remove 1 caliper pin bolt. Rotate the caliper upwards.

    3

Using mechanic's wire, suspend the caliper from the frame. Keep the the caliper from hanging from the brake hose. Remove the brake pads from the caliper mounting bracket. Remove the caliper mounting bracket clips and throw them away.

    4

Install new mounting bracket clips. Engage and install the brake pads on the caliper mounting bracket. Remove the mechanics wire and reinstall the caliper. Install the bolts and using a torque wrench, torque the bolts to 74 foot/pounds on 6 bolts or 80 foot/pounds on 8 bolt hubs.

    5

Reinstall the tire and wheel assembly. Add brake fluid, refilling the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery. Start the Escalade and pump the brake pedal 3 to 4 times to seat the brake pads.

    6

Drive the Cadillac Escalade at slow to moderate speeds to make sure that the maintenance was perform correctly.
