The 2006 Ford F-150's rear door panels are similar to the front door panels, although the process of removing a rear door panel is slightly different than that of removing a front door panel. If you need to access the rear-door speakers or power components, you'll need to remove the door panel. This procedure is applicable to all Ford F-150 models made between 2006 and 2008. Expect the removal procedure to take 15 to 20 minutes.
Instructions
- 1
Pry off the top part of the window panel on the back half of the rear-door panel. Use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the panel, then pull it off. Behind it, you'll see a bolt.
2Remove the bolt with a 5.5mm socket wrench. Keep it in a safe location for re-installation.
3Insert your flat-head screwdriver into the small slot behind the rear-door handle. Pry the small panel off to view the bolts behind.
4Remove the two bolts with an 8mm socket wrench.
5Pry up the window switch cover on the armrest. Insert your flat-head screwdriver into the seam on the side of the cover, then push it up. Underneath, you'll find an electrical connection. Depress the connection's tab with the screwdriver and unplug it.
6Remove the single 8mm bolt underneath the window-switch cover, then remove the two 5.5mm bolts from the bottom half of the door panel.
7Push the panel upward. Access the interior side of the panel. Locate the cable that connects the door handle to the inside door components. Pry back the white plastic cover with your flat-head screwdriver. Grasp the cable and pull it up and out of its slot to remove it. This separates the door panel from the door.
