There could be a number of reasons why your Chevy Corvette won't crank over when you try to start it. One reason could be bad battery cables. Raise the hood and check if the cables connected to the battery are full of corrosion. If they're loose, tightening them will help for a while. Replacing the battery cables is a better solution.

Instructions

    1

Find the battery under the hood near the passenger side front wheel squeezed into a really small space.

    2

Loosen the bolt on the black negative battery cable first with a box wrench or cable clamp pliers. Wiggle the cable end off the post and tap it gently with a small hammer, if it's stuck. Repeat the process on the red positive cable. Take off both battery cables, even if you're replacing only one.

    3

Follow the negative cable to where it's connected to the wheel well. Even though Chevy Camaro has top post cables, you may have to take the battery out to reach the end connections on the cables. Remove the end of the cable with the wrench.

    4

Track the positive cable to its connection on the starter solenoid on the lower part of the engine on the passenger side. Remove it with the wrench.

    5

Clean the posts with a small wire brush or cable cleaner and wipe them clean with a dry cloth.

    6

Attach the new positive cable and then attach the negative cable. Always take the ground cable off first and put it back on last to avoid producing sparks in the engine compartment that could ignite any fuel fumes trapped in the compartment. Start the Corvette to ensure that the connections are working.
