The Honda CRV-V is a compact SUV designed to handle like a car and has a more comfortable ride than larger SUVs. The springs in the CR-V are easily accessed and non-manufacturer springs can be used. The coil springs in the suspension system help the Honda CR-V provide a smooth and comfortable driving experience which keeps it a top selling compact SUV.
Instructions
- 1
Take the strut off the CR-V and attach a spring compressor. Follow the compressor's instructions for proper installation.
2Compress the spring until the end separates from the spring seat. This is potentially dangerous as an uncontrolled release of the spring can cause bodily injury.
3Disconnect the upper strut mount, spring seat and other components of the strut assembly.
4Replace the spring and inspect the seat for signs of wear.
5Reattach the spring compressor and place the spring into the strut so that the end of the spring properly aligns with the spring seat.
6Reinstall the strut and components. Makes sure to tighten the nut to the proper foot pounds of pressure before installing the strut onto the CR-V.
7Lower the CR-V and check the wheel alignment. The alignment sometimes needs adjusted after servicing the suspension system.
